Syracuse Crunch
The Syracuse Crunch category follows the Tampa Bay Lightning's American Hockey League affiliate and the top development level for many Lightning prospects. Coverage includes assignments, recalls, roster changes, playoff runs and players pushing toward NHL roles in Tampa Bay. The Syracuse Crunch began AHL play in 1994 and have operated continuously under one of the league's longest-tenured independent ownership groups. Syracuse became Tampa Bay's AHL affiliate in 2012-13 and reached the Calder Cup Final in 2013 and 2017 during the partnership. The affiliation was extended through 2029-30 in 2026, making it one of the NHL's longest active development relationships.
New Syracuse Crunch coverage will appear here as Florida Sports Blog publishes it.
