Florida Gulf Coast Eagles

The Florida Gulf Coast Eagles category covers Florida Gulf Coast University athletics at the NCAA Division I level. The program competes primarily in the Atlantic Sun Conference (ASUN). Florida Sports Blog tracks schedules, scores, recruiting, coaching changes, conference races, postseason play and major program developments across the school's men's and women's teams. FGCU built athletics alongside the young university, moving from NAIA competition into NCAA Division II and then beginning a Division I transition in 2007. Full Division I eligibility arrived in 2011, and the men's basketball team became a national phenomenon in 2013 as 'Dunk City,' the first No. 15 seed to reach the NCAA Sweet 16. The Eagles have since won numerous ASUN championships across multiple sports.
