Florida Atlantic Owls

The Florida Atlantic Owls category covers Florida Atlantic University athletics at the NCAA Division I level. The program competes primarily in the American Conference. Florida Sports Blog tracks schedules, scores, recruiting, coaching changes, conference races, postseason play and major program developments across the school's men's and women's teams. Florida Atlantic developed its intercollegiate athletic program through the late 20th century and launched football in 2001 under Hall of Fame coach Howard Schnellenberger. The Owls quickly climbed from FCS to FBS, won early bowl games and later captured conference football titles, while basketball reached national prominence with a Final Four run in 2023. FAU joined the American Athletic Conference in 2023 after earlier eras in the Sun Belt and Conference USA.
