FIU Panthers

The FIU Panthers category covers Florida International University athletics at the NCAA Division I level. The program competes primarily in the Conference USA (CUSA). Florida Sports Blog tracks schedules, scores, recruiting, coaching changes, conference races, postseason play and major program developments across the school's men's and women's teams. FIU athletics began in the university's early years and first gained national attention in men's soccer, which won NCAA Division II championships in 1982 and 1984. The program moved fully into Division I by the late 1980s and competed in the Sun Belt before joining Conference USA in 2013. FIU also evolved from the Sunblazers to Golden Panthers and eventually shortened its athletic identity to the Panthers.
