Ave Maria Gyrenes

The Ave Maria Gyrenes category covers Ave Maria University athletics in the NAIA. The program competes in The Sun Conference. Florida Sports Blog follows schedules, scores, recruiting, conference races, national rankings, postseason events and program features across the school's varsity sports. Ave Maria built its intercollegiate athletic program as the young university expanded in Southwest Florida and joined The Sun Conference for the 2009-10 academic year. Football began in 2011, making Ave Maria the first college in Southwest Florida to sponsor the sport. The Gyrenes have since developed conference contenders across football, basketball, soccer, baseball, softball and other NAIA sports.
