West Florida Argonauts

The West Florida Argonauts category covers University of West Florida athletics at the NCAA Division I level. West Florida began its NCAA Division I transition in fall 2026, competing in the ASUN for most sports and the United Athletic Conference for football during the reclassification period. Florida Sports Blog tracks schedules, scores, recruiting, coaching changes, conference races, postseason play and major program developments across the school's men's and women's teams. West Florida began intercollegiate athletics in the 1970s and became a long-time NCAA Division II power in the Gulf South Conference. UWF launched football in 2016 and won the NCAA Division II national championship in 2019, only the program's fourth season. In 2026 the Argonauts began a transition to NCAA Division I, joining the ASUN for most sports and the United Athletic Conference for football.
