FSCJ's intercollegiate athletic history dates to 1967, when the school competed as Florida Junior College and its teams were known as the Stars. As the institution evolved through Florida Community College at Jacksonville and eventually Florida State College at Jacksonville, its athletic identity became the BlueWave. The program has maintained a long NJCAA presence in baseball, basketball, volleyball and other sports while serving the First Coast.
