Florida College completed a summer 2026 renovation of Hutchinson Auditorium before students returned to campus, updating a central location for chapel, concerts, lectures and special events. The project refreshed the historic space while preserving its character.
The Florida College Operations Department worked with contractors throughout the summer to complete the work. Constructed in the early 1960s, Hutchinson Auditorium has remained an important part of Florida College campus life and will continue hosting weekday chapel gatherings.
Renovation adds seating and stage improvements
The renovation included repolished concrete floors, new carpet and new seating throughout the auditorium. The updated seating configuration increased capacity from 610 to 672 seats, allowing an enrollment of 612 students to gather in the space.
Fresh paint was added to the stage, trim, beams and side walls. The stage also received new stair access and curtains along the front edge to conceal storage underneath. Additional electrical outlets were installed throughout the auditorium to support events and programs held there.
Students will continue gathering in Hutchinson Auditorium each weekday for chapel. The renovation allows the space to continue serving Florida College while retaining the character associated with its history on campus.
