Ella Thompson leads Miami in collegiate debut
Ella Thompson led the Miami Hurricanes with eight kills in her collegiate debut. She also recorded one service ace and two blocks, while Asia Harvey finished with seven total kills. Billie Reiter posted 17 assists and four digs.
Miami opened the first set with a 3-0 run before Michigan took a 5-4 lead. The Wolverines extended their advantage after Sonja Danilovic recorded a service ace to tie the set, then finished with a 25-15 win. Michigan also closed the second set on a 5-0 run to take a 2-0 lead.
Michigan finishes sweep in third set
Miami took a 10-9 lead in the third set after erasing an early deficit. Michigan then scored seven consecutive points, but the Hurricanes battled back to tie the set at 18 during an 8-2 run that included a service ace from Ruth Martinez. The Wolverines answered with five straight points after a timeout to secure a 25-19 set win and complete the sweep.
Miami Hurricanes return home against UCLA
The Miami Hurricanes will host UCLA for two matches beginning Friday, Sept. 4, in Coral Gables. The match will begin at 6:30 p.m. The matches will mark Miami’s home opener.
