Jaycie Noble was named the FCSAA Player of the Week after scoring both goals in Polk State Soccer’s 2-1 victory over then-No. 13 Eastern Florida State College on Sept. 30. The freshman forward scored twice in the second half as Polk State earned the conference victory. Noble received the honor Tuesday, Oct. 6.
Noble became the first Polk State player to score multiple goals in a conference match since Marcella Koasne scored twice against Daytona State College in October 2022. Her seven goals lead Polk State and rank third in the FCSAA. Noble, who is from Callahan, Florida, also ranks fourth in the FCSAA with 15 points.
“Jaycie has been incredible for us all season long,” Head Coach Dee Shivraman said. “Her physicality and work rate have made a big impact this season. She complements our team in terms of our team profile, which is not necessarily flashy, but she puts in gritty performances.”
Noble follows Zapata as FCSAA honoree
Noble’s award came one week after Polk State goalkeeper Sofia Zapata earned FCSAA Goalkeeper of the Week honors. Zapata made 10 saves against then-No. 2 Daytona State College on Sept. 23. The honors gave Polk State a weekly FCSAA award in consecutive weeks.
“It’s always exciting to see your student-athletes recognized,” Randy Lee, Polk State director of athletics, said. “This is a well-deserved honor for a tremendous performance against one of the blue bloods of this level.”
Polk State owns a 5-3-2 record with less than two weeks remaining in the regular season. The program received votes in the latest NJCAA poll on Oct. 5. The recognition followed a stretch of matches against nationally ranked opponents.
“To see student-athletes like Jaycie win weekly statewide awards brings tremendous pride to our institution,” Polk State President Anastasios Kamoutsas said. “Congratulations to all of our athletes and coaches on yet another outstanding effort.”
Polk State’s next listed match
Polk State was scheduled to face a fifth consecutive nationally ranked opponent on Oct. 10, when it was set to play No. 11 Monroe Community College in a neutral-site contest in Melbourne. The Polk State athletics calendar lists that women’s soccer match as canceled. The calendar lists Polk State’s next scheduled match for Oct. 14 at 7 p.m. against Daytona State College.
