Juan Matheus drove in four runs, and the Pensacola Blue Wahoos defeated the Montgomery Biscuits 7-6 Tuesday in the opening game of their final road trip of the season. The victory was Pensacola’s fifth straight and improved the team to 70-50 overall.
Brandon Compton gave the Pensacola Blue Wahoos an early lead with a three-run home run in the top of the first inning. The homer extended Compton’s hitting streak from 14 games to 15 games, and it was his 20th home run with Pensacola and 31st of the minor league season.
Jacob Miller made his first start since July 24 and worked 2.0 innings. Montgomery erased the 3-0 deficit after a defensive error helped Mac Horvath score, and the Biscuits moved ahead 4-3 in the third inning when a throw from Ryan Ignoffo allowed Theo Gillen to score from first.

Pensacola regained the lead in the fifth inning after the first three batters reached on an error, a walk and a hit-by-pitch. Matheus followed with a two-run single down the right-field line, putting the Blue Wahoos ahead 5-4.
Matheus added to the lead in the seventh inning after Aiva Arquette opened the inning with a single. Matheus hit a solo home run to left field, his ninth of the year, to give Pensacola a 7-4 advantage.
Gabe Bierman earned the win to improve to 6-2, while Holt Jones combined with him to cover the following 5.1 innings without allowing a run. Jack Sellinger left the game after being struck by a line drive in the eighth inning.
Nigel Belgrave entered with two outs and a runner on third and earned his ninth save. Montgomery scored twice on wild pitches in the late innings and brought the tying run to third, but Belgrave got Cooper Kinney to line out to center field for the final out.
Pensacola improved to 34-17 in the second half and became the first Southern League team to reach 70 wins. Montgomery fell to 62-59 overall and 27-25 in the second half, while Pensacola’s magic number dropped to 12 games.
