Woodhead’s goal gives Eckerd early advantage

Tampa created a pair of early chances before Woodhead broke the scoreless tie. Her goal in the 12th minute gave Eckerd a 1-0 lead, and the Tritons carried that margin into halftime.

Eckerd kept pressure on Tampa with a 9-1 advantage in corner kicks for the match. The Tritons also finished with a 9-8 edge in total shots and placed four shots on goal.

Eckerd controls second half

Eckerd outshot Tampa 7-2 in the second half and held the Spartans without a shot on goal during the final 45 minutes. Ashley Nelson placed a shot on frame in the 63rd minute, and Ava Costa forced a save in the 83rd minute.

Next match

The victory extended Eckerd’s unbeaten streak against Tampa to five consecutive matches. Eckerd improved to 4-2-3 overall and 1-0-2 in SSC play.

Eckerd will visit No. 1 Florida Tech on September 26, 2026, at 7 p.m.

FSB Take

Eckerd College women’s soccer turned an early scoring opportunity into a win by combining Woodhead’s goal with sustained pressure and second-half defensive control. The Tritons’ 7-2 shot advantage after halftime and Tampa’s lack of a second-half shot on goal showed how Eckerd protected the one-goal lead. The matchup at No. 1 Florida Tech is next for an Eckerd team that has opened SSC play 1-0-2.
