The Dunedin Blue Jays raised more than $8,600 for local charities through Rain Delay Jerseys worn during the team’s July 18 game. The proceeds came from a game-worn jersey auction and merchandise sales. The fundraising supported Keep Pinellas Beautiful and Denis Phillips’ Rule #7 Shop.
Keep Pinellas Beautiful is a nonprofit organization dedicated to conserving and beautifying Pinellas County through community service and education. Denis Phillips’ Rule #7 Shop is a charitable initiative from Tampa Bay 28 Chief Meteorologist Denis Phillips. The shop supports local causes, including Feeding Tampa Bay and Children’s Miracle Network.
Rain Delay Jerseys reflected Florida weather
The jerseys featured a weather radar graphic of the Dunedin and Tampa Bay region. The Dunedin Blue Jays created the design after experiencing 24 weather delays, 10 postponements and six cancellations during the 2025 season. The uniforms later received national attention through coverage from ESPN, FOX, The Weather Channel and other national media outlets.
The Dunedin Blue Jays are a Class-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays and compete in the Florida State League. The July 18 game provided the setting for the jersey wear, while the auction and merchandise sales generated the charitable proceeds. The team also promotes community involvement through baseball, education, youth sports programs, educational initiatives and community partnerships.
