Keiser University Athletics named Joshua McDowell and Ida Palm its Seahawks Athletes of the Week for Week 6 on Monday, Oct. 5, 2026. McDowell was recognized for his performance with the Keiser Seahawks football team, while Palm earned the honor after contributing to the women’s soccer team’s 7-0 win over New College of Florida.

McDowell fuels Keiser football shutout

McDowell helped Keiser Seahawks football record its eighth shutout of the season in an 80-0 victory over Thomas (Ga.). The second-year linebacker recorded four tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble while playing half the game. He also helped the defense limit Thomas (Ga.) to 57 yards of total offense, the lowest mark allowed in program history.

McDowell’s first interception set up Keiser’s fourth touchdown early in the second quarter. He returned his second interception for a touchdown, which became the Seahawks’ 10th score of the game and set a school record for points in a game. McDowell has 15 total tackles this season, along with 2.0 tackles for loss, one sack, two interceptions and one forced fumble.

Palm contributes goal and clean sheet

Palm anchored a Keiser women’s soccer defense that held New College of Florida scoreless and without a shot in a 7-0 victory. The third-year defender also scored her first goal of the season. She finished with two points on two shots, putting both attempts on goal.

Palm’s defensive work helped the Seahawks post a clean sheet, while her goal added an offensive contribution from the back line. McDowell and Palm will be in the running for Keiser Athlete of the Month for October in November.

FSB Take

Keiser University Athletics recognized two defensive contributors whose performances produced decisive results in Week 6. McDowell created turnovers and scored on an interception return during a record-setting football performance, while Palm paired a clean sheet with her first goal of the women’s soccer season. Both players now move into consideration for the October Athlete of the Month award.
