Jessica Guiser was named SEC Golfer of the Week on Wednesday after winning her second collegiate tournament and leading Florida women’s golf to a 10-shot victory in its season opener at the Cougar Classic.
The honor is Guiser’s third conference weekly award. Her season debut was her first appearance since the 2025 NCAA Championships, a span of 477 days, and her victory added to her 2025 Gators Invitational title.
Guiser posts three under-par rounds
Guiser shot three consecutive under-par rounds for a 54-hole score of 207, or 6 under par. She recorded a career-low 67, or 4 under par, in the final round after shooting two rounds of 70, or 1 under par.
The Hartland, Wis., native led the field in par-4 scoring with a 3.85 average and tied for the field lead with 14 birdies. Her performance helped Florida secure its season-opening victory.
Florida sets Cougar Classic scoring mark
Florida shot a 7-under 281 in the final round and finished the tournament at 16 under par. The team’s 54-hole total of 836 is tied for the fourth-lowest in program history and is the best score in program history at the Cougar Classic.
The victory was Florida’s fourth all-time at the Cougar Classic and its first since 2018. That was also the last time Florida swept its season opener, while the program has won 11 of 19 regular-season team tournament titles across the last three seasons, a 58 percent winning percentage.
Florida women’s golf will compete next at the Mason Rudolph Championship from Sept. 18-20 at Vanderbilt Legends Club.
