Florida Gators running back Jadan Baugh earned second-team recognition on the Associated Press Midseason All-America team Thursday, Oct. 15. The honor comes after Baugh emerged as the FBS leader in rushing touchdowns, total touchdowns and total points scored through six games.
Baugh has rushed for 672 yards on 110 carries, averaging 6.1 yards per carry and 112.0 rushing yards per game. He also has seven receptions for 46 yards, giving him 718 total scrimmage yards this season. His 12 rushing touchdowns, 12 total touchdowns and 72 points lead the FBS.
Baugh has separated himself nationally
Baugh is the only FBS running back with at least 10 rushing touchdowns and more than 600 rushing yards. He has exceeded 135 rushing yards and scored multiple touchdowns in four games this season. Baugh also is the only FBS running back to rush for multiple touchdowns in four different contests.
Entering Florida’s Week 7 matchup at Texas, Baugh had recorded 518 consecutive touches and 459 consecutive rushes without a fumble. He is Florida’s first returning 1,000-yard rusher since 1992. Baugh is on pace for 1,456 rushing yards and 26 rushing touchdowns in a 13-game season.
Production puts Baugh among historic company
Baugh has two more rushing touchdowns through six games than Derrick Henry, Mark Ingram and Reggie Bush had at the same point in their Heisman Trophy-winning seasons. He also has more rushing yards than Ingram or Henry had through six games.
Baugh’s projected total of 26 rushing touchdowns would exceed Tim Tebow’s Florida school record of 23 by three. It would fall two short of Derrick Henry’s 2015 SEC record of 28, which Henry set in 15 games. Baugh would need to surpass 1,600 rushing yards to break Florida’s single-season rushing record of 1,599, set by Emmitt Smith in 1989.
Florida Gators football prepares for Texas
The Associated Press recognition arrives before Florida Gators football travels to face the No. 7 Texas Longhorns on Saturday, Oct. 17, in Austin, Texas. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET, with ABC carrying the game. Baugh and the Gators will face Texas in their Week 7 matchup.
Florida’s 2026 season is being played under first-year head coach Jon Sumrall. The remaining schedule listed in the source includes Florida’s game against Georgia in Atlanta on Oct. 31, followed by home contests against Oklahoma on Nov. 7 and Vanderbilt on Nov. 21. Single-game tickets are on sale for those games.
FSB Take
Baugh’s second-team All-America selection reflects a season defined by scoring production, rushing efficiency and ball security. His 12 rushing touchdowns, 672 rushing yards and 718 total scrimmage yards have made him Florida’s central offensive player through six games. The next opportunity to extend that production comes against the No. 7 Texas Longhorns in Austin.
