Nahne Paulsen helped Jacksonville University men’s soccer complete an unbeaten week against South Florida and Bellarmine before receiving his first career ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honor. The graduate student played 155 minutes across the two matches and recorded one assist. The recognition also gave Jacksonville its first ASUN Defensive Player of the Week selection since Logan Hall won the award on Oct. 6, 2025.

Paulsen played all 90 minutes in Jacksonville’s 1-0 victory over Bellarmine at Southern Oak Stadium on Saturday. He assisted Jake Waters’ game-winning goal and helped the Dolphins limit Bellarmine to seven shots and one shot on target. Jacksonville preserved the shutout and secured its first ASUN victory of the season.

Paulsen contributes in two matches

Earlier in the week, Paulsen played 65 minutes in Jacksonville’s 2-2 road draw at South Florida. That result completed Jacksonville’s unbeaten showing against American Conference opponents this season. The Dolphins also earned a 1-0 road victory at Memphis on Sept. 29.

Jacksonville improved to 5-5-3 overall and 1-3-2 in ASUN play after the draw and victory. Paulsen’s assist against Bellarmine was his only assist during the week. His defensive workload included a full match in Jacksonville’s shutout win.

Jacksonville hosts Mercer for Senior Day

Jacksonville University will return to Southern Oak Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 20, to host Mercer at 5 p.m. for Senior Day. The match follows the Dolphins’ first ASUN victory of the season. Jacksonville enters the match with a 1-3-2 conference record.

FSB Take

Paulsen’s award recognizes a week in which Jacksonville University men’s soccer combined defensive work with results against South Florida and Bellarmine. He played all 90 minutes in the shutout of Bellarmine, helped limit the Knights to one shot on target and assisted the winning goal. His first ASUN Defensive Player of the Week honor arrives as Jacksonville prepares to host Mercer on Senior Day.
