The Jacksonville Jaguars will host the New England Patriots in a Week 3 game Sunday after emphasizing fundamentals, communication and execution during a strong week of practice at the Miller Electric Center.
Both teams entered the game with 1-1 records, while the Jacksonville Jaguars led the AFC South at the time of the report. The game is scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida.
Head coach Liam Coen said the Jaguars made intentional improvements during the week as they prepared to face the New England Patriots, the defending AFC champions.
“I think there were definitely some intentional improvements,” Coen said Friday.
Jacksonville Jaguars focus on execution
Coen said the Jacksonville Jaguars have worked to avoid overanalyzing every possibility an opponent could present. The team has seen a wide range of routes, concepts and plays during the spring, training camp and work against its own teammates, according to Coen.
That preparation has allowed the Jaguars to focus on the basic elements required to execute on Sunday. Coen pointed to fundamentals, techniques, tackling, communication, positioning and knowing assignments as priorities for all three phases.
“As you continue to go in the game planning, it’s reminding the guys that we have seen every single route, concept, play another team can run,” Coen said. “We have seen all throughout this spring; we have seen all throughout training camp against each other.”
Coen said opponent preparation remains important, but the Jaguars must keep their attention on their own performance. He said that approach helped reset the team during the week.
“Not as much always worrying about the opponent,” Coen said. “That’s been a kind of a reminder that I think has helped reset us a little bit this week in all three phases. It is so much more about us. It truly is.”
Jacksonville Jaguars carry home winning streak
The Jacksonville Jaguars have won five consecutive regular-season home games dating to Nov. 16, 2025. During that stretch, the team set franchise records for a five-game home span with 192 points, a plus-132 point differential and 24 total touchdowns.
The Jaguars will try to extend that home run against a New England Patriots team that also entered Week 3 at 1-1. Coen said maintaining the momentum will require a concentrated effort from the entire roster and coaching staff.
Jacksonville Jaguars injury report
Rookie defensive tackle Albert Regis was added to the final Friday injury report with an elbow injury and was listed as doubtful for Sunday. His status is the only one among the listed players carrying a game designation.
Running back LeQuint Allen Jr. was listed with a hip injury without a game-status designation and was expected to be available. Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, who was listed with a thumb injury, and right tackle Cole Van Lanen, who was listed with a knee injury, also were expected to be available.
Center Robert Hainsey was listed with elbow and groin injuries, nose tackle DaVon Hamilton was listed with a back injury, and cornerback Christian Braswell was listed with a knee injury. None received a game-status designation, and all were expected to be available.
Week 3 schedule
The Jacksonville Jaguars will play the New England Patriots at 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27, at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Florida. The game is the Jaguars’ Week 3 home matchup.
FSB Take
The Jacksonville Jaguars enter Sunday with a 1-1 record, the AFC South lead and a five-game regular-season home winning streak. Albert Regis is doubtful with an elbow injury, while six other listed players are expected to be available without a game-status designation.
The central question is whether the improvements Liam Coen saw during practice will carry into all three phases against the New England Patriots. Jacksonville’s emphasis on fundamentals, communication and execution will be tested at EverBank Stadium.
