Seminole State College men’s and women’s cross country produced several notable performances before regional competition. The men’s team finished second overall in the 8K, while Dayanara Suarez Delgado and Aiden Williams recorded times among the fastest in school history. Both teams also continued a season of improvement, according to Coach AJ.

The Seminole State College women’s team competed in the 5K, led by Suarez Delgado’s 11th-place finish in 20:49.90. The time was the fifth-fastest in school history. Athena Turner placed 38th in 23:49.00, Addison Freeman finished 55th in 26:19.70 and Ashley Diaz Franco took 67th in 29:30.30.

Three of the Raiders’ four women recorded personal records. The performances gave the women’s team multiple signs of individual progress. Suarez Delgado’s result was the top women’s mark reported for Seminole State College.

Seminole State College men finish second

The Seminole State College men’s team finished second overall in the 8K. Aiden Williams led the Raiders by placing second in 26:32.30, the third-fastest time in school history. Gabriel Lewis finished fifth in 27:38.00, Gabriel Silver placed eighth in 27:55.50 and James Happl finished 10th in 28:09.80.

Jaden Houdashelt rounded out the Seminole State College men’s lineup with a 19th-place finish in 30:43.50. The Raiders placed four men in the top 10 of the field. All five Seminole State men recorded either a new personal record or a season-best time.

Regionals were scheduled for 10 days after the reported race. The source does not provide the regional event’s date, location or opponents. Coach AJ said the teams used the gap between races to train and now must refine their work before the next competition.

“This sets us up nicely leading into regionals just 10 days after this race,” Coach AJ said. “After a gap between races, we were able to buckle down and train hard, and the results today showed just that. The goal now is to sharpen the work we’ve done and go into regionals as fresh and fit as possible to get the best results we can. Both teams are still very young, and a lot of improvements are being made on a daily basis. We just need to put it all together when it matters.”

FSB Take

Seminole State College enters the regional portion of its schedule with measurable progress from both teams. The men’s second-place finish, four top-10 results and five personal records or season-best times provided the strongest team indicators, while the women’s team produced three personal records. The next opportunity will be for the young Raiders teams to carry those improvements into regionals.
