Romain Spailier scored for the Jacksonville Dolphins, but North Florida rallied for a 2-1 victory over Jacksonville University on Sept. 5 in Jacksonville, Fla. The result came in the only regular-season edition of the 2026 River City Rumble. Jacksonville dropped to 3-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in ASUN play, while North Florida improved to 2-2-1 overall and 1-0-0 in conference play.
Jacksonville takes second-half lead
The teams entered halftime tied 0-0 after each recorded four shots. Spailier then gave Jacksonville a 1-0 lead in the second half with his second goal of the season. Kai Tamashiro recorded his first assist of the season on the play.
Jacksonville finished with seven shots and two shots on goal. Spailier and Quinten Koster each recorded one shot on goal for the Dolphins. Koster led Jacksonville with two total shots in eight minutes of play.
North Florida scores twice late
North Florida scored the equalizer in the 87th minute before taking the lead in the 89th minute. Emir Trto scored the Ospreys’ first goal, with Mark Romano and Anton Khelil recording assists. Romano scored the winning goal, assisted by Germain Kapela.
Simen Havig made three saves for Jacksonville. North Florida was assessed a red card in the final minute, giving the Dolphins a man advantage. Jacksonville earned a corner kick with less than 20 seconds remaining, but Koster’s header hit the top crossbar as time expired.
Jacksonville sets next games
Jacksonville University will travel to Queens University of Charlotte on Saturday, Sept. 12, with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m. in Charlotte. The Dolphins will then host the Lipscomb Bisons on Saturday, Sept. 19. That match is scheduled for 6 p.m.
