Jonathon Long’s 10th-Inning Double Gives Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 6-5 Win Over Memphis Redbirds featured image

Jonathon Long hit the go-ahead RBI double in the 10th inning as the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp defeated the Memphis Redbirds 6-5 on Aug. 18, 2026, at AutoZone Park in Memphis. The victory gave Jacksonville a win in the series opener after the Redbirds erased a five-run deficit. The teams were tied 5-5 after eight innings before the Jumbo Shrimp scored the deciding run.

With one out in the 10th, Long doubled home automatic runner Maximo Acosta to put Jacksonville ahead. Josh White earned the win after pitching two innings of relief, improving to 6-2. Mason Vinyard then pitched a perfect bottom of the 10th to earn his first save.

Jacksonville Builds Early Lead

The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp scored twice in the first inning after Cam Cannarella led off with a single, Jonathon Long walked and Deyvison De Los Santos singled to load the bases. A double play brought home the first run before Brayden Taylor hit an RBI triple to make it 2-0. Bennett Hostetler opened the second inning with a home run, and De Los Santos added a two-run homer in the third to extend Jacksonville’s lead to 5-0.

Brandon White kept Memphis to one run over six innings. He allowed four hits, struck out six and walked one.

Memphis Completes Comeback Before Extra-Inning Decider

The Memphis Redbirds scored in the third inning when Chase Davis singled, Ramon Mendoza was hit by a pitch and Ramos Urias followed with an RBI groundout. Davis reached base again in the seventh, Mendoza walked and Victor Scott II hit an RBI single to cut Jacksonville’s lead to 5-2.

Memphis tied the game in the eighth. Cesar Prieto reached on an infield single before Thomas Saggese hit a sacrifice fly, and Colton Ledbetter followed with a solo home run to bring the Redbirds within one. Davis later scored on Scott II’s RBI triple, completing the comeback before Long’s double in the 10th put Jacksonville back in front.

Jacksonville entered the game with a 60-59 overall record and an 18-27 mark in the International League standings. The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp are the Triple-A affiliate of the Miami Marlins and compete in the International League.

The teams are scheduled to meet again Wednesday at 7:45 p.m. ET. Patrick Monteverde is scheduled to start for Jacksonville against Jurrangelo Cijntje, with coverage beginning at 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN 690AM and ESPN690.com.
