Jonathan Pena set a Stetson 8K school record and led the Stetson men’s cross country team to a third-place finish at the Georgia Tech XC Invitational on Oct. 2, 2026. The meet took place at Foxhall Sporting Club in Douglasville, Georgia, and marked Stetson’s third competition of the season.

Pena, a sophomore, finished ninth overall in 24:18 to establish the new Stetson mark. He has led Stetson across the finish line in each of the team’s first three meets. Pena also set Stetson’s cross country 5K record at the season-opening Florida Intercollegiate Invitational.

Three Top-Five 8K Marks

Stetson placed three of the five fastest 8K marks in program history in the same race. Kenan Willard finished in 24:33 to move to third on Stetson’s all-time 8K list, while Seth Singer finished in 24:43 to move to fifth.

Robbie Champa finished 27th in 25:04, and Michael Petrovic placed 34th in 25:18. Those results completed Stetson’s scoring five at the meet. All five Stetson scorers finished within one minute of one another.

Stetson recorded a 24:47 average for its five scorers, producing the fastest 1-5 average in school history. The performance helped the men’s team finish third overall at the Georgia Tech XC Invitational.

Stetson Women Finish Sixth

The Stetson women’s cross country team finished sixth overall with 167 points. Stetson finished ahead of Georgia Southern and Georgia State in the women’s team standings.

Micah Mizell led Stetson for the third consecutive meet, finishing 14th overall in the women’s 6K in 22:00. The junior also recorded her best 6K time of the season.

Madi Kerr-Wong finished 28th in 22:37, and Avery Sommers was the third Stetson runner across the line in 23:02. Hannah Koontz finished 72nd in 23:51, while Sophia Gravelli completed Stetson’s scoring five by placing 78th in 24:10.

Next Meet

Stetson returns to competition in two weeks at the Crimson Tide Invitational. The University of Alabama will host the meet in Tuscaloosa.

FSB Take

Stetson’s men’s team combined Pena’s school-record 8K with two additional top-five marks on the program’s all-time list. The five scorers also produced the fastest 1-5 average in school history, while the women’s team added a sixth-place finish with 167 points. The Crimson Tide Invitational is next for both Stetson programs.
