The Nashville Sounds defeated the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 14-6 on Aug. 25, 2026, in the series opener at VyStar Ballpark. Nashville collected 16 hits and scored six runs in the third inning and five more in the sixth. Matthew Etzel hit his second grand slam of the season in the eighth inning as Jacksonville scored all six of its runs.
Akil Baddoo opened the scoring with a solo home run against Jacksonville starter Brandon White in the second inning. Nashville then sent 10 batters to the plate in the third, when Ethan Murray, Eric Brown Jr. and Brandon Lockridge hit consecutive singles. Lockridge drove in Murray, Bo Naylor added a sacrifice fly, Luke Adams tripled home Lockridge, Baddoo doubled in Adams, Brock Wilken singled home Baddoo and Tyler Black tripled in Wilken to give Nashville a 7-0 lead.
Colton Gordon protected the lead with five scoreless innings and four strikeouts for the Nashville Sounds. Nashville added a run in the fifth when Baddoo walked and scored on a Black double. The Sounds scored five times in the sixth, with Lockridge walking, Naylor and Adams hitting singles, Blake Burke hitting a two-run double, Baddoo adding a sacrifice fly and Wilken hitting a two-run home run for a 13-0 advantage.
Black hit a solo home run in the eighth to extend Nashville’s lead to 14-0. Jacksonville responded in the bottom half of the inning when Maximo Acosta reached third after a fly ball to deep right-center was dropped and scored on a Cam Cannarella double. Jonathon Long singled home Cannarella, and after Logan Driscoll singled and Johnny Olmstead walked to load the bases, Etzel hit the grand slam.
White took the loss for the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and fell to 3-7, while Gordon earned the win and improved to 1-3. Jacksonville entered the game with a 63-62 overall record and a 21-30 record in league play. Nashville entered at 69-57 overall and 26-25 in the league standings.
