Inter Miami CF II earned a point Friday after a 1-1 draw against Atlanta United 2 at Inter Miami CF Stadium, but Atlanta United 2 claimed the additional point with a 6-5 shootout victory.
Inter Miami CF II entered the match with a 2W-17L-5D record and 12 points. Idoh Zelter-Zubida scored the team’s lone goal, and Theo Vorenkamp recorded his fifth assist of the campaign.
Inter Miami CF II takes the lead
Inter Miami CF II kept Atlanta United 2 off the scoresheet through the opening half. Deep into first-half stoppage time, Inter Miami CF II broke the deadlock after an Atlanta United 2 corner kick.
Vorenkamp quickly found Zelter-Zubida, who carried the ball nearly three-quarters of the field before cutting inside and curling a shot into the net. The goal was Zelter-Zubida’s ninth of the season and gave Inter Miami CF II the lead.
Atlanta United 2 equalized in the 78th minute when Patrick Weah scored with a right-footed strike from the center of the box. The ball went into the bottom-right corner, and the score remained 1-1 through the rest of the 90 minutes.

Mateo Saja and Diego Rey led the attack. Atlanta United 2 then won the ensuing shootout 6-5 to secure the additional point.
