The Miami Dolphins celebrated the Dolphins Cancer Challenge reaching $100 million in lifetime fundraising during a halftime presentation at the team’s Crucial Catch game against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, October 11, 2026. The event also honored cancer survivors, doctors, researchers and organizations supporting cancer research and patient care in South Florida.

Miami Dolphins Chairman and Owner Stephen M. Ross and Ross Sports & Entertainment CEO Daniel Sillman joined Dolphins Cancer Challenge board members, cancer survivors, and Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center doctors and researchers for the on-field presentation. The milestone recognized the people affected by cancer and the work supported by the initiative’s fundraising.

A year-round Miami Dolphins health initiative

The Dolphins Cancer Challenge is the Miami Dolphins’ year-round signature health initiative supporting people impacted by cancer. Founded in 2010 in honor of former Miami Dolphins player and broadcaster Jim “Mad Dog” Mandich, the Dolphins Cancer Challenge is described as the largest annual fundraising event in the National Football League.

The annual event includes cycling, running and walking activities at the Miami International Autodrome at Hard Rock Stadium. One hundred percent of Dolphins Cancer Challenge funds support cancer research and patient care at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center, which is part of the University of Miami Health System and the Miller School of Medicine.

DCC XVII is scheduled for February 27, 2027, at the Miami International Autodrome at Hard Rock Stadium. The Dolphins Cancer Challenge will continue its fundraising efforts in support of cancer research and patient care at Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Survivors featured during Crucial Catch activities

Jada Marie Anderson, a 15-year-old cheerleader and cancer survivor who was diagnosed with stage 3 synovial sarcoma, attended a Miami Dolphins Cheerleaders practice. During the Crucial Catch game, Anderson joined the cheerleaders on the field to ring the Living Proof Bell.

Jake, a cancer survivor and Miami Dolphins fan, also visited the Baptist Health Training Facility with his brother Justin, who was Jake’s bone marrow donor. The brothers met Miami Dolphins players during the practice visit.

Miami Dolphins head coach Jeff Hafley spoke about the importance of the Dolphins Cancer Challenge and Crucial Catch. Channel 7 and Channel 18 Foundations jointly donated $1 million to the Dolphins Cancer Challenge.
