The Pensacola Blue Wahoos will host their first FunBall youth baseball and softball clinic Saturday, Sept. 12, at Blue Wahoos Stadium. The event will run from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. for boys and girls ages 6-12.

The two-hour clinic will include a walk-up song, a photo station, a media interview, a whiffle ball home run contest over the outfield wall and other non-traditional activities. Local high school players will assist with the event.

FunBall clinic includes game ticket

The cost is $40 per participant and includes a T-shirt and a free ticket to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos game against the Biloxi Shuckers on Sept. 12. Parents may watch the morning clinic for free and may purchase tickets to the game that night.

“The whole idea of this is to really have something in the baseball and softball world that is fun for kids,” said Blue Wahoos team president Jonathan Griffith.

“We want kids to come to the ballpark, experience the stadium, say they hit a ball over the fence and heard their own favorite walk-up song,” Griffith said. “Most clinics are more intense and maybe for more of a skilled player. This one is for anyone in that ages of 6-years old and 12.”

The game will be followed by the final fireworks show of the year and the annual Diamond Dig, sponsored by Bere’ Jewelers.

FunBall concept began in Kansas City

The FunBall concept was first tried in June at the Kansas City Monarchs’ Legend Field. Pensacola Blue Wahoos owners Quint Studer and Rishy Studer purchased the Kansas City Monarchs earlier in 2026.

“It’s a fun camp, or fun type of clinic,” Griffith said. “Yes, we do regular baseball camps in the season, but this one is not that kind of clinic. it is to come out and have fun. And what we are trying to do is make them Blue Wahoos fans for life.”

The Pensacola Blue Wahoos will close their regular season Sunday, Sept. 13, against the Biloxi Shuckers. The teams are scheduled to meet in Game 1 of the Southern League divisional series on Sept. 15 at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
