Palm Beach remained seven games behind Daytona for first place in the Florida State League East Division with 13 regular-season games remaining.

Palm Beach Takes Early Lead

Palm Beach scored first in the bottom of the first inning when Miguel Hernandez was hit by a pitch with two outs, bringing home the opening run. The game was delayed for just over an hour in the middle of the third inning because of weather.

Payton Graham pitched three scoreless and hitless innings for Palm Beach. He allowed one walk and recorded three strikeouts in a no-decision. Yadiel Batista pitched the top of the fourth inning and recorded his second blown save of the season after Fort Myers cut the deficit.

Fort Myers Rally Leads to Victory

Carson Tinney doubled in the fourth inning before Aidan Teel delivered an RBI single for the Fort Myers Mighty Mussels. Isaiah Lane tied the game at 2-2 in the sixth inning with a sacrifice fly. Nathan Shinn pitched the final out of the inning and stranded two runners.

Fort Myers took its first lead in the seventh inning. Murphy Hernandez hit an infield single and reached third base on a throwing error by Shinn before Colby Turner followed with an RBI single. Tinney then hit a two-run home run to extend the Mighty Mussels’ lead to 5-2.

The game entered a second delay after the seventh inning and did not resume. Fort Myers entered the game with a 27-25 second-half record and a 64-53 overall record, while Palm Beach entered with a 26-27 second-half record and a 59-60 overall record. Shinn was charged with the loss and moved to 1-2.
