Six coaches recognized across YouthLOVB
Stockman was recognized for stepping forward during the camp season and providing leadership for athletes and coaches. Kokoro credited her with listening to the needs of people around her and helping create opportunities for growth and development.
Carrillo was honored for investing time outside regular practice to help athletes and their families understand the culture of Boomers. Her recognition also emphasized sportsmanship, integrity and personal growth rather than focusing only on winning games.
VandeHei was recognized for contributing extensive time to One Wisconsin through private lessons, camps and clinics. She is also stepping into an elite coaching role with the club after initially feeling hesitant about the opportunity.
Shotkoski received recognition for her work with Colorado Juniors and Club Colorado Juniors. Her contributions included developing athletes, building confidence and helping create an environment where young women can grow as players and as people.
Short was recognized after leading all camps for Gainesville Jrs during the summer. The club highlighted the time and energy she invested in preparing plans designed to help athletes grow and improve.
Roberts was honored for spending the summer in the gym refining his coaching and helping Club V athletes progress. The club also cited his kindness, humility, graciousness and work ethic as qualities it wants represented in its gym.
Recognition focused on club impact
The six selections reflect the range of coaching responsibilities recognized by League One Volleyball within YouthLOVB. The honorees were cited for work involving camps, athlete development, club culture, community building and support for athletes and families.
Gainesville Jrs was represented by Short, whose summer camp leadership was among the contributions recognized in September. Stockman, Carrillo, VandeHei, Shotkoski and Roberts were honored for similarly direct work supporting their athletes, coaches and clubs.
FSB Take
The September honors show that League One Volleyball is recognizing YouthLOVB coaches for more than their work during competition. Short’s leadership of Gainesville Jrs’ summer camps provides a specific local connection, while the six honorees collectively represent athlete development, club culture and community support. Those responsibilities are central to the coaching work described in the announcement.
