Jonathan Pena leads Stetson men’s cross country

Sophomore Kenan Willard and senior Seth Singer also produced top-31 finishes at the FSU Pre-Regional Invitational. Willard placed 27th, while Singer finished 31st. Senior Robbie Champa and junior Nicholas Zamora are also scheduled to compete for Stetson.

The men’s field includes programs ranked in the latest NCAA regional rankings. That field will provide another test for Stetson at the Georgia Tech XC Invitational.

Micah Mizell leads Stetson women’s cross country

Junior Micah Mizell will seek to lead Stetson for the third consecutive meet. Mizell has been Stetson’s top finisher in each of her first two races with the program, including a 25th-place finish at the FSU Pre-Regional Invitational.

Mizell ran 22:20 in the 6K at the FSU Pre-Regional Invitational. Junior Madison Kerr-Wong and sophomore Avery Sommers finished 25 seconds apart in Tallahassee, while freshmen Hannah Koontz and Sophia Gravelli are scheduled to compete in the women’s 6K.

The men’s 8K will begin at 8:30 a.m. Friday, with the women’s 6K scheduled for 9:20 a.m. Both races will take place at Foxhall Sporting Club in Douglasville, Georgia.

FSB Take

Stetson enters its first Georgia Tech XC Invitational with Pena and Mizell coming off team-leading performances at the program’s first two meets. Pena’s 19th-place finish and Mizell’s 25th-place showing provide the clearest verified benchmarks for the men’s and women’s teams heading into Friday’s races. The meet’s NCAA regional-ranked men’s programs add a documented level of competition to Stetson’s schedule.
