Junior Luis Gaitan earned the first Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor of his career, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon. Gaitan represents the Saint Leo University Lions men’s soccer program. The announcement came after his performance against Florida Southern.
Gaitan scored two goals to help Saint Leo University defeat No. 17 Florida Southern 4-3 in nonconference play. The performance marked the first brace of his career. Gaitan is from Panama.
The honor gives Saint Leo University men’s soccer consecutive Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week selections. Junior Virgilio Escala received the award the previous week. Saint Leo University will host Tampa in a conference game Wednesday, September 15, at 7 p.m.
