The Eckerd College women’s soccer team claimed a share of the Sunshine State Conference regular-season championship for the first time in program history. The Eckerd College team finished SSC play unbeaten with a 6-0-4 record and 22 points. Nova Southeastern shared the regular-season title after the championship became official Tuesday evening following Florida Tech’s 2-0 loss to Florida Southen.
Unbeaten conference campaign
Eckerd closed SSC play with four consecutive victories and outscored its opponents 12-1 during the streak. The run ended with a 3-0 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic at Johnson Field on Oct. 24, completing the team’s unbeaten conference schedule. Eckerd allowed three goals across its 10 SSC contests and recorded seven shutouts.
The conference campaign included a 1-1 draw at then-No. 1 Florida Tech, a 0-0 tie against nationally ranked Nova Southeastern and a 1-0 victory over Tampa. Eckerd also defeated Saint Leo 5-1 and Rollins 2-1 before recording consecutive shutouts against Barry and Palm Beach Atlantic. Nell Doe scored both Eckerd goals in the 2-1 victory at Rollins.
Program milestone follows 2025 progress
The championship share follows a second-place finish in the SSC standings in 2025. Eckerd finished that conference season with a 6-2-2 record and earned the program’s highest SSC Tournament seed at the time. The 2026 result gives Eckerd its first share of the conference regular-season championship.
Eckerd combined consistent defending with a strong finish throughout its conference schedule. The team went unbeaten in all 10 SSC contests, held opponents scoreless seven times and finished with four straight victories. Those results placed Eckerd alongside Nova Southeastern at the top of the regular-season standings.
SSC Tournament ahead
Eckerd now turns its attention to the SSC Tournament after securing the regular-season championship share. The team enters the tournament with an unbeaten conference record and seven shutouts. Its late-season run also included 12 goals across the four-game winning streak.
FSB Take
Eckerd’s first regular-season championship share reflects the program’s balance across the conference schedule. The 6-0-4 record, three goals allowed and seven shutouts show how effectively the team protected its unbeaten position. The SSC Tournament will give Eckerd its next opportunity to build on that historic regular-season finish.
