Morehouse College brings defensive momentum
Morehouse College recorded its first shutout of the season in the 44-0 win over Lane. The Maroon Tigers held Lane to 184 total yards and forced five turnovers, including four interceptions. That performance will be tested by an Edward Waters passing attack that has produced 1,118 yards and 12 touchdown passes through four games.
Morehouse also has converted 8 of 9 fourth-down attempts through four games. Edward Waters has converted 2 of 7 fourth-down opportunities. The difference could affect possession and field position in a matchup between two teams entering with contrasting recent performances.
Morehouse running game features DeVaughn and Red
Running back Chase DeVaughn led Morehouse against Lane with 117 yards on 15 attempts, including a 55-yard touchdown run. He enters Saturday with 270 rushing yards and three touchdowns on 52 carries, along with 379 all-purpose yards. Edward Waters enters the game allowing 135.5 rushing yards per game and 276.5 passing yards per game. Morehouse will look to establish DeVaughn and Red while limiting the opportunities available to Faulk and the Edward Waters passing attack. The Tigers, meanwhile, will try to prevent Morehouse from building on its most recent offensive and defensive performance.
Edward Waters University has won five straight in series
Morehouse College leads the documented series 6-5 since 2011, but Edward Waters has won five consecutive meetings from 2021 through 2025. Edward Waters defeated Morehouse 27-24 on September 27, 2025, in Jacksonville. The result was the latest in the Tigers’ current winning streak against the Maroon Tigers.
Saturday’s game gives Morehouse an opportunity to end that five-game run. Edward Waters will try to protect its unbeaten SIAC record while taking its productive offense into an environment at B.T. Harvey Stadium. The matchup also places Faulk’s passing production against a Morehouse defense that forced five turnovers in its last game.
FSB Take
Edward Waters University enters with the better record and a high-producing passing game, while Morehouse College brings turnover momentum and a strong fourth-down conversion rate. Faulk, Jean-Baptiste and Thomas give the Tigers established offensive production, but Morehouse has shown it can create extra possessions and limit opposing yardage. The result will test whether Edward Waters can maintain its 2-0 SIAC start and its five-game winning streak against Morehouse.
