Travis Hunter returned to regular-season action in the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Week 1 victory and said he felt great after playing 33 snaps against the Cleveland Browns.
It was Hunter’s first game since Week 7 of the 2025 season. He played 29 snaps at cornerback and four at receiver as the Jacksonville Jaguars defeated the Cleveland Browns 34-10.
Hunter Sees Little Rust in Return
Hunter said it took only a drive or two to become comfortable again. “I felt great,” Hunter said. “Just me getting on the football field and just getting back comfortable with myself, and it took me about a drive or two to realize I was playing football again.”
Hunter was targeted once in coverage against the Cleveland Browns. Jacksonville Jaguars defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile said Hunter moved well and that his eyes and feet looked good in his first game back.
“He moved around really good,” Campanile said. “He didn’t get a lot of ops, for sure, so that’s usually a good thing at corner. Overall he really did a good job and his eyes, his feet, all that stuff, looked good.”
“Getting back, first game, I thought that was a great start for him,” Campanile said.
Jacksonville Jaguars Prepare for Denver Broncos
The Jacksonville Jaguars entered Week 2 with a 1-0 record and prepared to play the Denver Broncos, who entered 0-1. The game was scheduled for Sunday at 4:05 p.m. at Empower Field at Mile High in Denver, Colorado.
Hunter won the 2024 Heisman Trophy at the University of Colorado and was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2025 NFL Draft. He previously traveled to Denver with the Jacksonville Jaguars for the team’s 34-20 Week 16 victory over the Denver Broncos.
Hunter said his goal against the Denver Broncos was to “just go out there and play football.” He added, “Do what I do, and that’s just be great on both sides of the ball.”
“It felt like I just did my job to be able to go to the next level and be able to go back there and play,” Hunter said.
