Florida Memorial University received four The Sun Conference Players of the Week selections for performances from September 1 through September 6, 2026. The conference announced the awards Sept. 7. Florida Memorial’s honorees included three football players and one women’s soccer player.
Khari Fields was named Football Defensive Player of the Week, while David Buggs earned Football Offensive Player of the Week honors. Sean Egloff Vega was selected as Football Special Teams Player of the Week. All three were recognized for their performances against Allen.
Fields recorded two interceptions against Allen, including a fourth-quarter takeaway that helped propel Florida Memorial to a comeback win. Buggs completed 21 of 36 passes for 420 yards and five passing touchdowns. He also threw the game-winning touchdown pass with 1:12 remaining in the fourth quarter.
Egloff Vega went 5-for-5 on extra points and 1-for-1 on field-goal attempts against Allen. Alaira Handy was selected as The Sun Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring four goals in Florida Memorial’s 9-0 win against Florida Polytechnic. Her performance tied the single-game scoring record for most goals in a game.
