Rollins College men’s soccer moved from No. 2 to No. 1 in the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll released Tuesday. The Tars were listed with a 2-0-1 record, while last year’s national runner-up finish also factored into the voting. Rollins College athletics announced the ranking and the week’s schedule, which includes SSC openers for both soccer programs.
Men’s soccer begins conference schedule
Rollins College men’s soccer was scheduled to host the Embry-Riddle Eagles on Sept. 9 in a non-SSC match. Embry-Riddle was listed with a 2-0-1 record, and the Tars had won the previous seven contests between the teams, including two victories last season. Rollins was then scheduled to travel to face the Tampa Spartans on Saturday in its first road match of the season and the SSC opener.
Women’s soccer has three recent results
Rollins College women’s soccer was listed with a 3-2 record after three recent matches at home. The Tars defeated Tusculum 1-0 last Thursday, lost to No. 11 Ashland 1-0 Saturday and fell to Columbus State 4-2 earlier on Sept. 9. Rollins was scheduled to host the Tampa Spartans on Saturday in its SSC opener, with Tampa listed at 2-2.
Gabby Boyd, freshman Gracie DiStefano and freshman Chloe Milton were tied for the team lead with two goals apiece. Boyd and sophomore Gianna Babusci each had two assists. The source did not identify the player who scored Rollins’ goal against Tusculum.
Volleyball returns to tournament play
Rollins College volleyball went 1-3 at the Redwood Coast Classic in Arcata, California. The Tars earned a 3-0 win over Jessup and lost 3-2 to host Dominican University. Jenna Garza and Kayla Goodloe were named to the Redwood Coast Classic All-Tournament team.
Garza recorded 81 assists and 15 digs in four matches and was ranked fifth in the SSC with 173 assists on the season. Goodloe totaled 31 kills and eight blocks at the tournament and had 75 kills for the season, which ranked in the SSC top 10. Cameron Grange had 15 aces on the season.
The Tars were scheduled to play Paine, Lander and host Valdosta State in Valdosta, Georgia, in their final tournament before conference play. Paine was listed with a 0-0 record, Lander with a 2-4 record and Valdosta State with a 3-4 record.
Waterski scheduled for season debut
Rollins College waterski was scheduled to face Florida Southern in the annual Showdown at Champions Lake in Auburndale. The event was set to be the Tars’ first action of the 2026 season. Marc Bedsole coaches the Rollins waterski team.
