The Tampa Bay Buccaneers filled 16 of 17 available practice squad spots Aug. 31, adding veteran quarterback Easton Stick and four defensive backs after reaching the NFL regular-season limit of 53 players.
The Buccaneers re-signed 15 players who had been trimmed from the roster after clearing waivers. The team added Stick after the Indianapolis Colts terminated him as a vested veteran Aug. 30, making him available to sign with another team.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers address secondary depth
The Buccaneers had eight defensive backs on their active roster after reaching the 53-player limit. They re-signed cornerback Ramon Parodie and safeties Ifeatu Melifonwu, J.J. Roberts and Rashad Wisdom to add depth to the secondary.
The four defensive backs could provide game-day depth through the NFL practice squad elevation option. During the regular season, each player can be elevated three times, and each team can elevate up to two players per game. In the postseason, teams can continue elevating up to two players per game, while individual players can be elevated an unlimited number of times.
Easton Stick joins the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Los Angeles Chargers selected Stick in the fifth round of the 2019 draft out of North Dakota State. He spent six seasons with the Chargers, appearing in six games with four starts and completing 111 of 174 passes for 1,129 yards, three touchdowns and one interception.
Stick recorded a 63.8% completion rate and an 85.7 passer rating with the Chargers. He was with Atlanta in 2025, working with current Tampa Bay Buccaneers coaches Zac Robinson and T.J. Yates, before signing with the Indianapolis Colts in June 2026.

Rubelt occupies an International Player Pathway exemption spot, giving the Buccaneers 17 available practice squad spots. The team planned to complete the practice squad with a 17th signing before returning to practice Tuesday.
Culp played in 18 regular-season games across two seasons with the Buccaneers. The team retained rookie tight end Bauer Sharp as its fourth tight end, contributing to Culp’s move to the practice squad.
