The Tampa Bay Buccaneers made two one-for-one roster replacements after opening the 2026 preseason with a win over the New York Jets. The team signed rookie running back Barika Kpeenu and first-year safety Robert McDaniel to its 91-man training camp roster. Tampa Bay waived running back Kadarius Calloway and safety Marcus Banks with injury designations.

Kpeenu was not selected in the 2026 NFL Draft after completing his collegiate career at North Dakota State. He appeared in 47 games with 19 starts, recording 434 carries for 2,277 yards, a 5.2-yard average and 32 touchdowns. He also added 35 receptions for 369 yards and two touchdowns.

Kpeenu rushed for 1,005 yards and 20 touchdowns as a senior in 2025 and was named to the All-Missouri Valley Conference first team. His signing with Tampa Bay marks his first appearance on an NFL roster. He joined the Buccaneers after going undrafted.

McDaniel entered the NFL in 2025 as a rookie free agent with the Commanders and spent his entire rookie season on Washington’s practice squad. Washington waived him the Wednesday before Tampa Bay announced the move. McDaniel had two stints at Jackson State and also spent time at Alcorn State and Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.

During his 2024 senior season at Jackson State, McDaniel recorded 54 tackles, 10.0 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks, three interceptions, five pass breakups and two forced fumbles. He also played in three games for the Commanders during the 2025 preseason, recording 10 tackles and one pass defensed. He now joins Tampa Bay’s training camp roster.

Banks signed with Tampa Bay as an undrafted free agent in 2024 and spent most of the previous two seasons on the Buccaneers’ practice squad. He appeared in three games the previous season after being elevated from the practice squad on game day. Calloway joined Tampa Bay as an undrafted rookie in May out of New Mexico State.

Calloway played 19 offensive snaps in the Buccaneers’ preseason win over the New York Jets. He rushed eight times for 13 yards in the game. Calloway and Banks were waived with injury designations as Tampa Bay completed the one-for-one roster replacements.
