The Tampa Tarpons defeated the Dunedin Blue Jays 4-0 on Sept. 2, 2026, in an abbreviated six-inning game decided by scoreless pitching and three home runs. The victory came after persistent rain limited the scheduled doubleheader to one official game.

The teams were scheduled to play two games Wednesday to make up Tuesday’s rainout, but inclement weather prevented the second game. Tampa entered with a 40-18 record, while Dunedin entered at 30-28.

Tyler Boudreau Sets the Tone

Tyler Boudreau started for the Tampa Tarpons and threw 3.0 scoreless innings with five strikeouts. He left after being hit by a batted ball.

Rafael Arias earned the win in relief, throwing 2.2 scoreless innings and striking out three batters. Tampa’s pitching staff kept the Dunedin Blue Jays off the scoreboard throughout the game.

Home Runs Lift Tampa

The game remained scoreless until Anthony Potestio hit a solo home run in the bottom of the fifth inning. The blast gave the Tampa Tarpons a 1-0 lead.

Tampa added three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Luis Escudero led off with a double down the right-field line, Dax Kilby hit a home run over the Rooms To Go Patio, and Wilberson De Peña followed with a home run into the bleachers to extend the lead to 4-0.

Play continued into the seventh inning before persistent rainstorms brought the game to an end. The Tampa Tarpons and Dunedin Blue Jays are scheduled to play a doubleheader Sept. 3 at George M. Steinbrenner Field, with game one scheduled for 4 p.m.
