Maya Maxwell was named to the 2026 CUSA All-Academic Team, earning her first selection while contributing to the Florida International University women’s soccer program. The senior is pursuing a master’s degree in Business and Government Leadership and has posted a 4.0 GPA for the academic school year thus far. The honor recognizes Maxwell’s work in the classroom and her production on the pitch.

Maxwell has played in all 16 of FIU’s matches and started nine. She has two goals and three assists for seven points, which ranks second on FIU. Her three assists lead the Panthers and are tied for ninth in CUSA.

Maxwell’s academic and athletic seasons

Both of Maxwell’s goals came in FIU’s victory over Howard, producing the only brace of her career. Her performance against Howard also earned her first career CUSA Offensive Player of the Week honor for the period ending Aug. 30. The recognition added a conference weekly honor to her first CUSA All-Academic Team selection.

Maxwell’s selection is FIU’s first on the CUSA All-Academic Team since two Panthers made the list during the 2024 season. She is the latest FIU player to combine conference-level academic recognition with a leading role in the team’s attack. Her graduate studies and 4.0 GPA have accompanied a season in which she has appeared in every match.

FSB Take

Maxwell’s honor gives FIU a conference academic representative whose contributions extend across every match played this season. Her team-leading assist total connects the recognition to a measurable role in the Panthers’ attack. It also marks a return for FIU on the CUSA All-Academic Team after the program’s two selections in 2024.
