Perello scored in the victory and played 73 minutes for FIU. Santi Possu also received American Conference honorable mention recognition after scoring the game-winning goal in the second half.
Perello has recorded a point in back-to-back matches and has appeared in all 14 of FIU’s matches this season. He has made six starts during that span. The honor marks his second straight American Conference Freshman of the Week selection.
Santi Possu remains FIU’s leading scorer
Possu’s deciding goal against Florida Atlantic was his team-leading 10th of the season. The graduate student striker leads FIU with 21 points and the American Conference with 10 goals overall. He also has six conference goals and ranks second in the conference in game-winning goals.
Possu ranks eighth nationally in goals per game at 0.77 and ninth nationally in total goals. His Oct. 26 honorable mention selection was his fifth this season, following recognitions on Sept. 21, Sept. 28, Oct. 5 and Oct. 19. He was also named American Conference Offensive Player of the Week on Aug. 31.
FIU schedules Tulsa for home finale
