Sporting Club Jacksonville will play its Sporting JAX men’s USL Championship match against Birmingham Legion FC without spectators Saturday because of the potential impact of Hurricane Isaias and associated inclement weather. The match was originally scheduled for 5 p.m. ET at Hodges Stadium on October 10. It will now begin at 1 p.m. ET.

The match will move away from Sporting JAX’s usual natural grass pitch at Hodges Stadium because of potentially unplayable field conditions. The revised venue was not identified in the announcement. The match will be streamed live on ESPN+.

What fans need to know

Fans will not be admitted to the match. Sporting JAX said supporters can follow live updates through its social media accounts, including Instagram at @sportingclubjacksonville, Facebook through Sporting JAX Men’s Team and X at @sportingjax_men. The club also directed fans to sportingjax.com for upcoming match details and ticket information.

Fans who have tickets to the October 10 match will automatically receive tickets to Sporting JAX’s next men’s USL Championship home match. That game is scheduled for Wednesday, October 21, at 7:30 p.m. ET against Louisville City FC. Replacement seat locations will match the original seats, based on availability.

Schedule change follows weather concerns

The decision changes the match’s kickoff time, public access and playing location. Sporting Club Jacksonville cited the potential effects of Hurricane Isaias and associated inclement weather in announcing the closed-door arrangement. Potentially unplayable field conditions prompted the move away from the natural grass pitch at Hodges Stadium.

The October 10 match against Birmingham Legion FC will begin at 1 p.m. ET and can be streamed on ESPN+. Fans can use Sporting JAX’s social media accounts for live updates during the match. The next men’s USL Championship home match identified for ticket holders is the October 21 meeting with Louisville City FC.

FSB Take
