The Jacksonville Jaguars named eight team captains for the 2026 football season Monday, with quarterback Trevor Lawrence receiving every vote on offense. Lawrence was selected as a team captain for the sixth consecutive season to start his career.
Lawrence, center Robert Hainsey and wide receiver Jakobi Meyers were named offensive captains. Defensive end Josh Hines-Allen, linebacker Foyesade Oluokun and cornerback Jourdan Lewis were selected on defense. Long snapper Ross Matiscik and punter Logan Cooke will represent special teams.
Lawrence leads Jaguars captains
Hainsey, Hines-Allen, Oluokun, Lewis and Cooke also were captains for the Jacksonville Jaguars last season. Meyers and Matiscik are first-time Jaguars captains, and Meyers joined the team last season. Hainsey and Lewis have been captains in both of their seasons with the Jaguars.
Hines-Allen was named a captain for the sixth time in eight Jaguars seasons. Cooke received the honor for the fourth time in nine seasons, while Oluokun was named a captain for the fifth time in five Jaguars seasons.
Jacksonville Jaguars to use rotating captain
Head coach Liam Coen said he will name a rotating captain for each game during the 2026 season. Coen said the approach will continue developing the Jaguars’ leadership group and noted that many players received votes in the captain selection.
“When you get every single vote on the offense, it’s kind of telling that the guys look to him,” Coen said of Lawrence. Coen said Lawrence leads through his weekly preparation and by holding teammates to a standard of preparation.
