A four-touchdown performance from Trevor Lawrence helped the Jacksonville Jaguars defeat the Cleveland Browns 34-10 on Sunday at EverBank Stadium in the 2026 Week 1 opener.
Lawrence completed 18 of 23 passes for 245 yards and four touchdowns without an interception. He completed passes to eight different receivers in the first half, while Parker Washington caught five passes for 83 yards, including a 30-yard touchdown reception.
“A true team win,” Head Coach Liam Coen called it. “It’s good to know you have guys who are bought in and who are all together. It was a ‘spread-around’ game. That’s where you can point to the standard and having confidence in each other. I have confidence in them. They have confidence in what they’re doing and hopefully it continues to carry over.”
Lawrence leads productive passing attack
Washington gave the Jaguars an early lead with his 30-yard touchdown reception. Lawrence threw touchdown passes to four different receivers, with Jakobi Meyers, Brian Thomas Jr. and Washington among the receivers who made an impact early.
“Was definitely pleased with the way Trevor ran the offense today,” Coen said. Washington also praised Lawrence after the game. “He’s a baller,” Washington said of Lawrence. “It’s his second year in this offense. We are all confident in him. He knows what he is capable of and he knows he is special. He goes out there and does it each week.”
Running game adds balance
The Jaguars finished with 126 rushing yards at 3.9 yards per carry, including carries by quarterbacks and receivers. Running backs Bhayshul Tuten, Ameer Abdullah and Chris Rodriguez Jr. combined for 25 carries and 121 yards.
Tuten averaged more than four yards per carry, while Rodriguez and Abdullah also contributed to the running game. The performance came after the Jaguars did not play their starters in the preseason.
Defense produces pressure and a turnover
Ventrell Miller and Branson Combs combined for 13 tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble. Miller affected a pass from Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson, and linebacker Foyesade Oluokun intercepted it in the first quarter.
Anton Harrison made his first NFL career start at left tackle for the Jaguars. He faced Cleveland Browns defensive end Jared Verse, who did not record a quarterback hit or pressure against Harrison.
Jaguars head to Denver in Week 2
The Jaguars will play in Denver next Sunday. Jacksonville will enter the next game after opening the season with a balanced offense, four touchdown passes from Lawrence and a disruptive defensive effort.
