St. Thomas Aquinas Volleyball Sweeps Pines Charter Before Playoff Push

St. Thomas Aquinas volleyball defeated Pembroke Pines Charter 3-0 on Oct. 7, closing its regular season with a Senior Night sweep. The Raiders won the sets 25-12, 25-7 and 25-13. The school’s recap described the victory as the program’s fifth straight win. Aquinas now turns its attention to the district tournament.

Raiders control all three sets

Rylie Marino recorded 25 assists, four digs and two aces in the victory, according to the match recap. Isabella Cabrera added 18 digs and an assist. Aquinas won each set by at least 12 points, leaving little room for a Pines Charter comeback. The combination of ball distribution and back-row defense gave the Raiders a strong way to finish their regular season.

McArthur matchup opens the next stage

Aquinas is scheduled to meet McArthur in a Class 5A, District 15 quarterfinal on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 4:30 p.m. Eastern. The matchup appears on the school calendar and the NFHS Network event listing. The FHSAA schedules girls volleyball district tournaments for Oct. 12-16 this year. That moves the focus from regular season results to the next match in the postseason bracket.

The Senior Night result also gave Aquinas a chance to recognize its graduating players while finishing with a sweep. The school highlighted the seniors’ contributions in its recap of the evening. A postseason opponent presents a new challenge even after a comfortable victory. The Raiders will need to carry the same attention to first contact and possession into their tournament matches.

FSB Take

Aquinas enters this stage with a useful combination of recent wins and a decisive final regular season performance. The sweep showed that the Raiders could maintain control across three sets. I would look for that consistency to carry into the McArthur matchup, especially when a tight stretch demands a clean pass and a patient attack. The postseason will test those habits more directly than any celebration of the previous result.
