Keiser University named women’s soccer forward Avril Amil Ruiz and men’s cross country runner Iker Prados Molina its 2026-27 Seahawks Athletes of the Month for September. The athletic department announced the selections Oct. 30, 2026. Ruiz leads Keiser soccer attack
Ruiz, a third-year forward from Valencia, Spain, has started six of 10 matches and leads the Seahawks with six goals and 13 points. She has scored six goals on 16 shots, with 13 shots on goal for an .813 shots-on-goal percentage. Ruiz also recorded the first hat trick of her collegiate career in Keiser’s 7-1 win over No. 13 Southeastern, scoring three goals on three shots and earning the game-winning goal.
Ruiz added two goals, including the game-winning goal, in a 2-0 win over Cumberlands. She also scored in Keiser’s 7-0 win over New College of Florida. Ruiz recorded her first Keiser assist in a 2-2 draw with St. Thomas.
Prados Molina set men’s 5K record
Prados Molina, a first-year runner from Barcelona, Spain, earned two Sun Conference Runner of the Week honors during the season. He won the individual title at the STU Invitational with an 8K time of 26:37.66. He was the first-place individual finisher at a meet featuring eight scoring teams.
Prados Molina also broke the Keiser school record in the men’s 5K with a time of 15:22.67, surpassing the previous record of 16:22.3. He finished second overall in a field spanning nine teams while recording the top individual finish for the Seahawks. His 26:37.66 performance was the 10th-fastest 8K time in Keiser history.
September honorable mentions were Cece Worsham in volleyball, Mio Tanaka in women’s soccer, Luisa Fontes in softball, Nicolaj Kamarin Mahlmann and Timo Boomkens in men’s soccer, and JT Tabora and Raphael Ekechi in football.
FSB Take
The selections recognize production in two different events: Ruiz led Keiser’s women’s soccer team in goals and points, while Prados Molina delivered both an individual cross country title and a school record in the men’s 5K. Those verified accomplishments explain why the two athletes received the department’s September honors.
