Gina Stavile led the Saint Leo University women’s volleyball team with 15 kills in a 3-2 victory over Lees-McRae on Sept. 5 at the Flagler Saints Invitational in St. Augustine, Florida. Saint Leo won 26-24, 27-25, 24-26, 23-25, 15-10. The Saint Leo University women’s volleyball team also lost 3-1 to Valdosta State in its second match of the day.
Stavile added eight digs in the victory. Freshman Reagan Lyerla recorded a career-best 14 kills and 17 digs for a double-double, while junior Chloe Danielson posted a career-best 10 kills with two digs and one block.
Saint Leo University women’s volleyball team gets defensive contributions
Junior Emma LeTourneau led Saint Leo’s defensive effort at the net with four solo blocks and nine kills. Junior Mia Moser set a career best with 30 digs and added three service aces. Freshman setter Jansen Warbritton had 42 assists, 16 digs and three service aces for a double-double.
Graduate student Giada Solorzano added 12 digs, and freshman Elle Smith recorded 10 digs. Saint Leo is now 2-5 on the season after the two matches. The victory came during the team’s appearance at the Flagler Saints Invitational.
Against Valdosta State, freshman Shelby Toney led Saint Leo with a career-best 13 kills. Stavile added 10 kills and four digs, while Lyerla recorded seven kills and 14 digs. Moser had 23 digs and two service aces, and Warbritton finished with 28 assists and 12 digs.
Saint Leo University women’s volleyball team scheduled for Lions/Tritons Invitational
Saint Leo is scheduled to play in the Lions/Tritons Invitational on Sept. 11-12 before Sunshine State Conference play begins. The team will face Franklin Pierce at Eckerd on Sept. 11 at 12:15 p.m. and Henderson State at Eckerd at 7 p.m. that day.
Saint Leo is scheduled to play Georgia College at Saint Leo University on Sept. 12 at 2:30 p.m.
