In Orlando, Fla., Lynn University men’s soccer earned three All-Sunshine State Conference honors, led by Robin Muenst as SSC Midfielder of the Year and Joao Silva as SSC Defender of the Year. Muenst and Silva also earned All-SSC First Team recognition. Senior midfielder Fabian Vyhnalek was selected to the All-SSC Third Team.

Muenst started all 15 matches and led Lynn with eight goals, six assists and 22 points. He recorded 36 shots, including 17 on goal, and produced at least one point in 11 appearances. The senior midfielder from Stuttgart, Germany, has totaled 16 goals, 14 assists and 46 points in 31 matches during his two-year Lynn career.

Muenst opened the season with a five-point performance against Mississippi College, scoring twice and adding an assist in Lynn’s 3-2 victory. He later scored against Florida Southern and Eckerd before recording two goals in a 2-2 draw against Saint Leo on Oct. 10. Muenst also scored in consecutive matches against Palm Beach Atlantic and Embry-Riddle before adding an assist in Lynn’s 3-1 Senior Day victory over Tampa.

Silva started all 15 matches and logged a team-high 1,343 minutes for Lynn. The junior defender from Porto, Portugal, finished with five goals, two assists and 12 points while placing eight of his 14 shots on goal. He helped Lynn limit opponents to 17 goals across 15 matches.

Silva scored twice and added an assist in Lynn’s 3-2 conference-opening victory over Nova Southeastern on Sept. 16. He followed with goals against Florida Tech and Rollins before scoring the eventual game-winner in Lynn’s 3-1 victory over Tampa on Oct. 28. Lynn also recorded shutout victories over Rollins, Palm Beach Atlantic and Barry.

Vyhnalek started all 13 matches in which he appeared and logged 1,164 minutes. The senior midfielder from Weitersfeld, Austria, finished with one goal, four assists and six points. He concludes his four-year Lynn career with 64 appearances, 61 starts, nine goals, 27 assists and 45 points.

Vyhnalek opened conference play with two assists in Lynn’s 3-2 victory over Nova Southeastern. He added another assist in a 3-0 shutout of Rollins and scored in Lynn’s 2-0 victory over Palm Beach Atlantic on Oct. 21. He also contributed an assist against Tampa in the regular-season finale.

The three All-SSC selections helped Lynn compile a 5-3-6 regular-season record before the team advanced to the Sunshine State Conference Tournament. Lynn earned a 2-0 victory over Barry on Nov. 2. The honors recognize contributions from Lynn’s midfield, defense and attack as the Fighting Knights continued in postseason play.

FSB Take

Lynn’s three all-conference selections reflect production across the lineup rather than a single statistical area. Muenst led the team in goals, assists and points, Silva combined a team-high minutes total with defensive responsibility, and Vyhnalek supplied midfield playmaking. That distribution gives Lynn recognized contributions at multiple positions following its 2-0 tournament victory over Barry.
