LaDonna Trantham was named the Southwestern Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after helping Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University women’s volleyball complete a perfect weekend on the road. The conference announced the award Tuesday for the period of Oct. 28 through Nov. 3, 2026, from its league office headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama. It is Trantham’s second SWAC Offensive Player of the Week honor of the 2026 campaign.
Trantham, a sophomore outside hitter from Homewood, Illinois, produced 21 kills across Florida A&M Volleyball’s victories over Alabama A&M and Alabama State. She also recorded four service aces and three assisted blocks while averaging 3.50 kills per set across the two matches. Her production made her the team’s leading attacker for the weekend.
Trantham delivered in both road matches
Trantham recorded 11 kills at Alabama State and followed with 10 kills at Alabama A&M. At Alabama State, she posted a .417 hitting percentage, four digs, three service aces and two assisted blocks. She hit .326 across the weekend.
The award marks Trantham’s second weekly offensive honor from the SWAC this season. She also has produced eight double-digit-kills matches in her last 10 outings. Her totals included contributions as an attacker, server and blocker during Florida A&M’s two road victories.
SWAC weekly award roundup
Southern’s Penina Vito was named the SWAC Newcomer of the Week. Grambling State claimed the other two weekly honors. Asialin Powell was selected as Defensive Player of the Week, while Alayna Howard was named Setter of the Week.
Trantham’s recognition gives Florida A&M an individual honor following a weekend in which the team won both of its road matches. Her ability to reach double figures in kills in each match complemented her service and blocking production. The award also establishes her as a repeat SWAC offensive honoree during the 2026 campaign.
FSB Take
Trantham’s second weekly award highlights how broadly she contributed during Florida A&M’s road weekend. She combined 21 kills with four service aces and three assisted blocks, giving the Rattlers production in multiple phases. That all-around output is the clearest individual takeaway from the team’s two-match weekend.
