Rollins College Athletics will provide the venue for the Sunshine State Conference Men’s Soccer Championship quarterfinal between Rollins and Florida Tech. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, at Cahall-Sandspur Field in Winter Park. Weather-related emergencies affecting Florida Tech prompted the relocation from the Panthers’ campus in Melbourne.
Florida Tech’s campus is closed because of severe weather, and the Sunshine State Conference moved the match to Rollins after evaluating the circumstances. Florida Tech will remain the designated home team despite the change in location. The Panthers also will retain their original tournament seeding and home-team designation.
Chris Graham, the Sunshine State Conference commissioner, said safety guided the decision to relocate the quarterfinal. “First and foremost, our priority is the safety and well-being of our student-athletes, coaches and everyone involved in our championships,” Graham said. “We appreciate the flexibility and cooperation of Florida Tech, Rollins and Embry-Riddle in helping us navigate these circumstances. Relocating these matches allows us to move forward with our championships while preserving Florida Tech’s earned home-team designation.”
The winner will advance to the Sunshine State Conference Men’s Soccer Championship semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 5. The quarterfinal remains tied to Florida Tech’s original tournament position even though it will be played in Winter Park. Cahall-Sandspur Field will serve as the match site for the relocated contest.
FSB Take
The relocation changes where the quarterfinal will be played without changing Florida Tech’s official home-team status or tournament seeding. That distinction preserves the competition’s established structure while allowing the championship schedule to continue during the weather-related campus closure. The winner will move on to the semifinals two days later.
