The Jacksonville Jaguars elevated linebacker Jamal Hill from the practice squad to the active roster via standard elevation for their next game. The Jaguars announced the move Oct. 31, 2026. Hill wears No. 54 and is listed at 6 feet, 227 pounds.
Jacksonville signed Hill to its practice squad Oct. 22. The 25-year-old appeared in five games with the Houston Texans during the 2026 season and recorded four special teams tackles, including two solo tackles. Hill is from Ellenwood, Georgia, and attended Oregon.
Hill has NFL special teams experience
Houston drafted Hill in the sixth round, 188th overall, of the 2024 NFL Draft. He has played 25 games with the Texans and recorded 14 special teams tackles, including nine solo tackles, along with one forced fumble on special teams. His elevation gives Jacksonville an available linebacker with established NFL experience in that phase.
Hill played 60 games at Oregon, including 29 starts. He recorded 145 tackles, five tackles for loss, 15 passes defensed, four forced fumbles, 2.0 sacks and two interceptions. He earned All-Pac-12 honorable mention honors in 2020.
FSB Take
Hill’s clearest verified contribution comes on special teams, where he has produced throughout his NFL career. His elevation gives the Jaguars another linebacker option for the next game after he spent the previous part of the season with Houston. The move also continues Jacksonville’s recent use of Hill, who joined the practice squad nine days before receiving the active-roster elevation.
